Giancarlo Maurino Djanian is a saxophone and multi instrument player, as well as a composer and music arranger .Born in Kuwait city, his father being Italian and his mother Armenian, the family moves on to live in Saudi Arabia and then returns to settle in Italy. Self-taught, Giancarlo first studies the piano under his mother’s guidance to then start on other  musical instruments, the flute and the saxophone (soprano, alto and tenor)

 He takes part in the 1970s musical era participating in important national jazz events: Umbria Jazz, Ravenna , Pescara … etc collaborating with various musicians, Enrico Pierannunzi, Franco D’Andrea, Don Cherry, Maurizio Gianmarco, Rita Marcotulli, Giovanni Tommaso, Enrico Rava, etc.

In 1976, together with Charles Mingus, he records the sound track of the film Todo Modo . He is a well appreciated saxophone player and sought after for his personal expressiveness, an unusual lyrical vein and a particular timbre of his instrument.

He goes on to record various movie sound tracks with  composers like Trovajoli, Piccioni, Morricone, Ortolani, Donaggio and others. He also performs in other musical recordings of popular music with Gianni Morandi, Renato Zero, Amii Stewart, Del Newman etc. During the same period, he organises the musical arrangements for Renato Zero and Peppino Di Capri. He continues seeking new musical sounds, and developing his music talents through the experience of various different types of music .

In 1994, he undertakes an intensive period of Concert and television activity in Brazil with Elza Soares and Roberto Taufic. From 1995 and to date he continues to collaborate with other various artists, Sabina Guzzanti, Karl Potter and Dick Halligan ( the pianist, musical arranger and composer co-founder of Blood Sweat and tears)
