佩卡派爾卡恩的音樂生涯由十歲吹單簧管開始。此後他的樂器技能擴展至薩克斯管、長笛和鋼琴。他於西貝流斯音樂學院取得音樂碩士學位，亦曾在鹿特丹音樂學院就讀，並曾跟隨Dave Liebman, Bob Mintzer等大師學習。

Pekka’s Global Unit was formed recently, featuring the one and only acoustic electric bass player Ronan Guilfoyle from Ireland.
Pekka Pylkkanen’s musical career dates back to when he began playing the clarinet at 10. Later his instrumental repertoire grew on to include flutes, saxophones, and the piano. He received this Master of Music degree from the Sibelius-Academy. He also studied at the Rotterdam's Conservatory and studied privately with Dave Liebman, Bob Mintzer and other masters.
Pekka’s music is highly characteristic. As Hilarie S. Grey of JazzTimes said: ”… Pylkkänen leads a tight sextet through moody, atmospheric pieces that explore with a purpose.....As accomplished a group of musicians as these are, the human element is always present.”
During the last 10 years, Pekka has worked with dozens of different artists, orchestras and groups both in Finland and abroad, including Dave Liebman, Vince Mendoza and Paquito D'Rivera. Pekka’s Tube Factory played on international festivals, concert halls and clubs in Finland, Norway, USA, Japan, Korea, China, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and Uruguay, amounting to over 300 concerts during the last few years.Ronan Guilfoyle, bass

Ronan Guilfoyle is a major figure on the Irish jazz scene. Performing on the acoustic bass guitar since the early 1980s, Ronan is now one of the instrument's leading exponents, and is much in demand as a bassist, both in his native Ireland and on the international jazz scene. Among the people he has performed with are Dave Liebman, Kenny Werner, Joe Lovano, Kenny Wheeler and Brad Mehldau. He has also been leading his own groups and touring extensively in Europe, Asia, and North America. His recordings include the award winning "Devsirme".
